This week, Year 1s have been diving into our third lesson of the ‘Make Your Mark’ unit, titled Exploring Media. We began by discussing what “media” means in art – the materials used to create a piece of work.
Our first task was to use pencils to draw 2D shapes and practice different types of lines we learned in a previous lesson. Then came the fun part: adding colour! We explored a variety of media, including charcoal, oil pastels, felt pens, soft pastels, and pencils.
The class loved experimenting with these different materials, seeing how each one produced unique colours and effects. It was an exciting and creative exploration, as we discovered the endless possibilities of using various media in our artwork!
