A busy week in Y3

Year 3 have had so many opportunities to be creative this week!

We started off with a practical science lesson on Monday where we investigated forces by trying to move ping pong balls in different ways. We discussed how two objects must be touching for a contact force to occur, and how forces can be pushes, pulls or twists.

On Tuesday as our hook lesson for our new text “The Tin Forest” the children created a forest out of tin foil! They used their skills from their Year 2 sculpture project to create some amazing freestanding trees with only a little bit of help from sticky tape. Our Tin Forests will be proudly on display in our rooms for the next few weeks.

Finally, it has also been DT week! We’ve been learning how to cook Welsh cakes including making adaptations to the recipe, planning how to cook safely and keep our food hygiene tip top and finally, the all important taste-tasting. The Welsh cakes were a winner, with almost all children thoroughly enjoying them and excited to try again at home. For children who don’t like raisins, they can be made with chocolate instead. The recipe is here for any keen cooks.

We have had a fantastic but exhausting week. Looking forward to the weekend when it arrives, and then our cinema trip next Thursday!
