Spring Art Project! (Y5)

Year 5 started off the Spring term with Art week!

We started off the week looking at how the Space Race influenced the Retrofuturism movement and discussed the different mediums that could be used to create futuristic art. We then had a go re-creating a section of an image using different mediums ourselves. It was fascinating to see how changing the medium changed the composition of our artwork.

In the following lessons, we took inspiration from Ties Albers ‘Moonwalk’ to create our final piece. First, we sketched out our ideas of what the future would look like, and then used print-making techniques to create a textured background. We then used continuous line drawings to sketch our chosen images and used soft pastels to heighten the details by adding dimension.

By combining fluid, uninterrupted lines with a mix of vibrant colours and textures, we brought our futuristic visions to life, merging technology and imagination.
