Year 6 had an incredible opportunity to step back in time on a WWII walking tour around Central London with Dave, deepening their understanding of Britain during the war.
As we walked through Westminster, we explored key sites that played an important role during the war, including Westminster Abbey, where leaders gathered to offer hope, and Parliament, a symbol of resilience during the Blitz. We also learned about the impact of the war on everyday Londoners, from air raid shelters to rationing and evacuation.
“It was amazing to see the places we’ve learned about in class!” – Elianna
“I never knew how much London was affected during the war!” – Tom
“It was worth the walking around, we learnt a lot of British history!” – Sonya
“I enjoyed seeing the different World War buildings.” – Lamech
We stood on the very streets that were once bombed during the Blitz, imagining what life was like as sirens wailed and searchlights scanned the skies. We also saw statues of key wartime figures like Winston Churchill, who led Britain through its darkest days.
This hands-on experience brought history to life, helping us truly understand the courage and sacrifices of those who lived through World War II.
