Reception Buddies!

Year 6 recently had a special assembly where they met their Reception Buddies’ parents and carers. Afterward, they spent lunch together, teaching their buddies how things work in the lunch hall. They then took them to the playground for the first time, playing games and helping them feel at home. It was a fun and meaningful experience for both year groups!

At Michael Faraday, we want our Reception children to feel safe and supported, especially during lunchtime in the big playground. That’s why each child is paired with a Year 6 buddy—a friendly face and helping hand.

However, the benefits go both ways. Our Year 6 pupils develop leadership, patience, and responsibility as they care for their younger peers—important skills for secondary school and beyond.

We love seeing the friendships that form between buddies. Many of our Year 6 pupils remember looking up to their own buddy when they were in Reception!
