Stepping back in time (Y2)

Last week, Year 2 set off on an exciting journey through history to learn more about the Great Fire of London. With our brilliant guide, Dave, leading the way, we explored some of the most important places linked to the fire and uncovered fascinating facts about the events of 1666.

Our adventure began at Pudding Lane, the very spot where the fire started. We then visited the Monument, a towering reminder of how the fire spread through the city. Walking over London Bridge, we imagined what it must have been like to see the flames leap from building to building.

One of the most exciting stops was a beautiful church designed by Christopher Wren. Inside, we saw a model of Old London Bridge, showing how it looked at the time of the fire, complete with houses built along its length. It was incredible to picture what life was like back then.

Dave made the experience even more fun by teaching us some traditional songs, including London Bridge is Falling Down and London’s Burning. Singing these as we walked through the historic streets really brought the past to life.

It was an unforgettable day full of learning, discovery, and adventure. Year 2, you were fantastic historians!
