learning about friendship through re (y1)

As part of the National Curriculum, we learn Religious Education (R.E.) to explore different beliefs, values, and traditions. Throughout primary school, we cover the six major world religions, helping children develop respect, understanding, and awareness of different faiths.

In Year 1, our focus this term has been on Christianity, and our theme was Jesus as a Friend. The children explored what it means to be a good friend and thought about times when friendship can be easy or challenging. We also discussed moments when Jesus might have found it difficult to show friendship but still chose kindness and compassion.

To conclude our learning, we created a Web of Friendship, where each child shared why they appreciate their friends. Here are some of the thoughtful things they said:

๐Ÿ’› “I find it easy being friends with you because you are always kind to me and help me with my work.”
๐Ÿ’› “I find it easy being friends with you because you are friendly and always play with me.”
