What do plants need to grow (Y2)

In Science this half term, Year 2 have been learning all about plants and what they need to grow and stay healthy. This links to our National Curriculum objective: “observe and describe how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants” and “find out and describe how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy.”

We’ve been using our super Science skills—observing carefully over time, measuring growth, and recording what we see. We’ve planted seeds in different conditions to investigate what happens when a plant doesn’t get everything it needs. One seed has had no water, one no light, and one no warmth. We’re watching closely to see the results!

Next week, we’ll discover which seeds are growing well—and which ones aren’t. We can’t wait to become plant detectives and share our findings!
