In Maths this week, Year One have been learning how to measure using standard units—centimetres! The children used rulers and measuring tapes to explore the lengths of various objects in and around our classroom.
They measured everything from pencils to tables and even had a go at recording their measurements independently. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing confidence with using rulers and understanding centimetres.
We also linked our maths learning to our Science topic by measuring animal footprints! The children used rulers to find the length of different footprints and then made predictions about which animal each one might belong to. It was a fantastic way to combine scientific thinking with practical measuring skills.
We are so proud of how engaged and curious the children have been throughout this hands-on learning experience!
