This half term, Year 2 have been investigating the question: What material would make a suitable, eco-friendly plant pot?
First, we considered why some materials were eco-friendly and others are now. Then we began testing materials: bubble wrap, newspaper, cardboard, hard plastic, natural fabric and tin foil. We carried out a rip test to see how strong the different materials were. Our next set of tests were to see how well the different materials held their shape when we rolled them to make a plant pot and also how waterproof they were. Finally, we made our pots and planted some cress seeds. We finished by decorating with scrap paper. We were really pleased with how our pots turned out!
