This term in Computing, we have been learning about algorithms and decomposition.
An algorithm is a clear set of instructions. Sometimes the order matters! For example, you can’t put on your jumper before your T-shirt – that would be tricky! We had lots of fun testing this by dressing paper dolls with cut-out clothes.
We also learned about decomposition, which means breaking a big job into smaller steps. For example, if you need to tidy your books and magazines, you could:
- Sort them into groups.
- Decide how to organise them.
- Follow your own algorithm to put them away neatly!
We discovered that algorithms and decomposition don’t just help with Computing – they can help us solve everyday problems too!
