Children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been making the most of our rich and beautiful natural spaces this autumn. They have been exploring seasonal changes first-hand – discovering autumn leaves in shades of gold and crimson and all kinds of interesting grasses and seed heads.
Of course, no outdoor learning would be complete without a little messy fun – and the children loved experimenting with soil + water = mud! They used mud to make imaginative creations, learning through play and sensory exploration.
As part of their learning, pupils have also been developing their understanding of geography by identifying features around the playground and learning how maps are made. Using a bird’s-eye view, they created simple plans to show where different natural and man-made features can be found – a brilliant combination of creativity, observation and early mapping skills!
