curious minds and creative hearts (y3)

In Science, Year 3 became nutrition detectives! The children researched the different nutrients our bodies need to stay healthy and full of energy. They moved around the room to discover key facts about proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals finding out which foods contain them and how each nutrient helps our bodies.

Everyone enjoyed working collaboratively to build a clear picture of what makes a balanced diet and we had some great discussions about making healthy food choices!

To celebrate the end of the half term, Year 3 spent Friday afternoon embracing their creativity.

Half of the class time was spent painting stunning South Wales landscapes, inspired by the industrial artwork of L.S. Lowry. The children captured the atmosphere and colours beautifully in their own versions.

In the other half of the session, pupils became authors and illustrators, carefully publishing their mythological creature stories from the week. These imaginative pieces have been brought together to create a fantastic Year 3 class book — a wonderful way to end the term!
