From steel to skyline! (y3)

In Geography this week, Year 3 have been learning about how steel is made and why it is such an important material in our world today. The children explored the industrial process and discussed how steel production has shaped local communities and landscapes.

To link their learning with art, pupils also studied the work of artist L.S. Lowry, who painted scenes of industrial life and the people who worked in factories and mills. The children enjoyed examining his distinctive style and used it as inspiration to create their own industrial-themed artwork.

This cross-curricular lesson helped pupils understand both the geographical importance of industry and how it has been represented through art.
