As part of our DT (Design and Technology) curriculum, Year 1 have been learning about nutrition and cooking. We explored different fruits and vegetables and learnt that fruits contain seeds, which we enjoyed identifying in a range of foods.
Working in groups, we selected three ingredients to design and make a healthy smoothie. We practised cutting the ingredients independently, learning how to use kitchen tools safely and carefully.
Before blending, we tasted each ingredient and discussed the flavours, textures and which foods are good for our bodies. Finally, we blended our ingredients together and enjoyed tasting our finished smoothies.
