The Year 3 children have started their new science topic all about rocks and soils.
During our first lesson, we looked into how rocks are formed and the three main types of rocks: sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous.
We then had the opportunity to use our scientific skills to look closely at different rock samples and make notes on their appearance. Next lesson, we will be using the same rocks to carry out some experiments to learn more about these types of rocks.
The children absolutely loved exploring real rock samples and used a great range of vocabulary to describe their appearances.
