This week Year 6 went on an exciting trip to the Imperial War Museum to visit the Second World War Galleries, linked to our History topic on World War II. The children explored galleries that detailed the events leading up to, during, and after the war, filled with objects, displays and artefacts acquired from China, the US, Japan and from across Britain’s former Empire that told the truly global narrative of the conflict. They also enjoyed several interactive exhibits, including a replica Anderson and Morrison shelter! In addition, the children took part in a hands-on workshop where they investigated different artefacts and used their historian skills to infer what each item could tell them about the past. Overall, it was an incredibly informative and engaging trip that has left the children’s heads bursting with knowledge!
