31 children from Year 4 and 5 were lucky enough to be selected to take part in a special event, teaching girls from schools all over Southwark the basic skills needed to play rugby. The event took place at Burgess Park and we were initially disappointed to find that it was a very rainy afternoon! However, all the children got really stuck in and demonstrated great resilience in the face of the damp weather.
The groups rotated round several coaches who taught them different rugby skills, including dodging, passing, and finding space. Rugby is a sport we didn’t know much about so it was great to learn some new skills.
Thank you very much to Lucy for organising us to go!
