measuring magic! (Y1)

In Year 1, we explored measuring different objects in our classroom using non-standard units. We were learning how to measure and count carefully, making sure to place each unit accurately.

We had lots of fun investigating the lengths of different classroom items! We discovered that the table leg is 27 cubes long, while our phonics sound mats measured 11 counting pegs long.

At first, it was tricky to remember to line up our measuring units properly, but we kept trying and got better with practice. This activity helped us develop our understanding of measurement, which links to the National Curriculum objective: Compare, describe, and solve practical problems for length and height (for example, long/short, longer/shorter, tall/short, double/half).

Great job, Year 1! Keep up the fantastic measuring!
