Year 4’s RHE (Relationships and Health Education) topic this half term has been, “Celebrating Difference”. In our lessons we have talked about the importance of checking where our beliefs and opinions about others come from, showing curiosity and kindness to those who are different, and of course – never, ever putting up with bullying.
In today’s lesson, we read a story where someone could have prevented bullying from getting worse but chose to stay out of it. As a result, the bullying got worse. As a class we decided that we would never want to be a bystander like Jake in the story; instead, we are going to be upstanders, and stop bullying in its tracks! There are lots of ways to do this, but we know that we should always tell a trusted adult if we see bullying happening.
We made a class pledge to remember this. It reads, “BULLIES BEWARE: WE ARE UPSTANDERS!”
