Seeing gratitude (Y2)

Our RE topic this half term is, Why do we need to give thanks? So far we’ve thought of things we ourselves are thankful for. We’ve learned about the festival of Harvest around the world and discovered some of the ways in which Christians celebrate Harvest. This week, we listened to a Hindu story about being thankful. In the story, a blind man called Surdas met the goddess Radha and took away her bracelet. He would not give it back until Krishna had restored his sight to show him that he had taken it from the goddess. Surdas was so grateful that he’d seen Krishna, for whom he had written many poems and songs, that he asked for his sight to be taken away from him again – he did not need to see anything else in his life again.

We used paints, craft materials and playdough to create something from the story that had struck us as we had listened to it and discussed it and explained how what we had made linked to the story.
