Mapping out our community (Y5)

Year 5 have been taking their learning beyond the classroom as part of their local area topic. Equipped with maps, the children explored the local community, developing their map-reading skills while completing housing and environmental surveys.

During their walk, the children carefully observed different types of housing, considered how the environment is used and cared for, and recorded their findings like true geographers. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the local market, where the children had the opportunity to speak with friendly stall owners. They asked thoughtful questions, learned about local businesses and gained a greater understanding of the important role the market plays in our community.
