Year 2 have started the year off strong in maths! We have been learning all about the importance of place value and how the position of a digit tells us its value.
The children have been using Dienes blocks to build and partition two-digit numbers, helping them to see the difference between tens and ones. We also enjoyed a fun maths carousel, taking part in a range of hands-on activities designed to develop our understanding of place value.
From Dienes to place value counters, tens and other practical resources, the children had lots of opportunities to explore, build, partition and represent numbers in different ways. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and mathematical thinking!
What a brilliant start to our Year 2 maths learning!
