Year Two had a fantastic Science Day, proudly wearing their house colours and getting stuck into lots of exciting activities. The children explored four different experiments, making predictions and observing what happened.
In one class, the big question was: “Which paper aeroplane will fly the furthest?” Working in small groups, the children designed their own paper planes before heading outside under the shelter to test how far they could fly. They predicted, created, observed and measured – but most of all, they had fun!
In the other class, the question was: “Which material makes the best towel?” The children worked through each stage of the experiment, thinking carefully about how to make it a fair test – using the same amount of water, the same quantity of each material, and drying for the same amount of time. They then recorded their results and evaluated how effective each material was. Together, we explored the idea that the best towel is one that is absorbent – meaning it soaks up water really well.
