Come rain or shine! (Y4)

This term’s computing focus in Year 4 is all about weather forecasting.

So far, we have explored where weather apps get their data from, used a spreadsheet to compare temperatures around the world and talked about the reliability of different sources.
In this week’s lesson, children were challenged with designing their own machine that would use sensor data to detect weather conditions and respond to them appropriately. The children were more creative than their teachers could have imagined! Particular favourites included snow clearing robots and machines that dispensed suncream!

Next week, we will be learning about how satellies help us predict the weather all the way from space!
