This term in Art, Year 4 explored the theme “The Fabric of Nature.” Pupils began by creating mood boards using images of rainforest plants and animals to help them identify a mood and theme for their designs. They then explored how drawing can develop ideas for pattern by sketching a rainforest animal from four different perspectives. Using these drawings, pupils experimented with colour and pattern to create designs inspired by the rainforest. The class also worked with batik techniques and learned how designers create repeating patterns, similar to those used in fabrics and textiles.
