Year 4 have been working incredibly hard on their writing the past few weeks. We read and watched the legend of Beowulf, a hero of unmatched courage!
We talked about the features of legends, and how they usually feature human protagonists facing legendary monsters or villains. We talked about tools we could use to create our own legends, including uplevelling our vocabulary, using powerful verbs and using noun phrases and prepositional phrases to build the setting in the reader’s mind.
The children then created their own ‘ancient’ paper using the teabag-staining method, and published their legends. We hope you agree they look pretty impressive!
