What a wonderful start we’ve had to Reception at Michael Faraday!
The children have settled into their new environment so beautifully and are already forming lovely friendships with their new classmates. We have been spending lots of time getting to know our daily routines, exploring our classroom and learning the expectations and boundaries that help us to learn and play together. The children have been fantastic at adapting to their new surroundings and have approached each day with enthusiasm and excitement.
Our topic this half term is “Super Me!”. We began by sharing Welcome – A Book About Friendship by Alison Green, which helped us explore how to make friends, play together and resolve disagreements – all important skills for a happy year ahead.
In Literacy, the children have been practising writing their names and developing confidence in recognising and forming letters. We have also begun our Little Wandle phonics journey, learning the sounds s, a, t and p through fun activities such as What’s in the Box?
In Maths, we have been exploring numerals and quantities, matching numbers to groups of objects through practical and playful activities.
It has been a wonderfully positive start to Reception. We are so proud of how confidently the children have settled in and of the curiosity, kindness and independence they are already showing.
We are looking forward to all the exciting learning and adventures ahead!
