Hands-on History at horniman (y3)

This week, Year 3 were lucky enough to visit the Horniman Museum. We took part in a workshop linked to our history topic on Ancient Egypt, where we handled artefacts thousands of years old and discussed who they might have belonged to and what they were used for. We learned that we must wear gloves to protect these precious objects from the oils on our fingers.

We also explored the museum and its grounds. The children loved seeing the animals in the Natural History pop-up gallery and are excited to return when the main gallery reopens. We imagined playing the instruments in the music gallery and enjoyed making music on the outdoor instruments too.

The children impressed us with their knowledge of Ancient Egypt and asked thoughtful questions. What a fantastic day out!
