What makes a perfect home? (Y1)

Recently, Year One enjoyed a trip to Tate Modern where we looked at sculptures from various artists including Richard Long and Rudolph Singel and considered their choices of materials. We saw sculptures made of stones, wood, metal; some were reflective or created shadows and we even touched a sculpture that was made completely of carpet. At school we discussed animal homes and tried to find an animal that lived in a home made out of each of the sculpture materials. We discussed why each animal chooses the material that they make their home from. For example, a meerkat buries deep in the sand to make a den home that keeps meerkats cool and safe.
